The Dark Side of Craigslist

This NBC investigation looks at the seedy side of Craigslist. The free classifieds site is a boon for bargain hunters. But one section has been criticized by law enforcement. The Erotic Services section features thinly veiled ads for prostitution.

Why do women offer themselves in this section? They could be walking into very dangerous situations. How do they protect themselves? Are these ads even real? NBC investigators responded to these ads. And they got some answers.

Craigslist has been pressured to close the section for a while. But a high-profile murder involving the section recently made headlines. The site decided to remove the Erotic Services section. But it’s unlikely that this will stop ads for prostitution on Craigslist.

A Spell Checker for Outlook Express

Microsoft usually does a good job of keeping older things running. That's one reason for Windows' popularity. Newer versions normally run older programs.

However, Microsoft dropped Outlook Express for Windows Mail in Windows Vista. Windows Mail includes a spell checker. Outlook Express used the spell checker in Microsoft Office or Microsoft Works.

Office 2007 does not work with Outlook Express. However, there are ways to solve this problem. You definitely do not have to upgrade to Windows Vista!

I Follow Pornstars On Twitter??? [Stop Auto-Follow]

We all know that Twitter is an awesome social networking platform. The one-to-many communication, the ease of tweeting from anywhere – it is cool and the growth rate proves it. However, that growth rate has been so high that there are negative side effects. Spam, for one. But, when you couple the tweet spam with the ego-centric need to have high follower counts, Twitter itself starts to lose it’s usefulness. For this reason, I have completely done a reverse course on my approach to Twitter.

Do Not Use Your Browser As A Password Manager

Pretty much every current browser out there has the ability to save your user name and password information on different sites and then fill them in when you visit later. While this function is incredibly useful and convenient, it is important to remember it is not a substitution for a password manager.

Google City Tours

A Google Labs project, City Tours helps "identify points of interest and plan multi-day trips to most major-cities."

To build your tour, just enter the destination city, and City Tours automatically maps out a three-day plan with around 10 activity suggestions per day.

The site also suggests how long to spend at each place and clocks the walking distance between destinations.

City Tours is still very much a work-in-progress.
