How to Deal With Internet Shopping Problems

  1. Review your credit card statement as soon as possible after your purchase
  2. Get online access to your statements. Address problems immediately.
  3. The Better Business Bureau has a free service that will attempt to mediate a dispute between you and a merchant.
  4. When contacting the company, talk to someone who can actually issue a refund or correct the problem.
  5. Watch out for phony good reviews. Some sellers try to make themselves look good by posting glowing reviews under false identities. Amazon.com has solved the problem of made-up merchant reviews through its Real Names program. To review an item or merchant on Amazon, you must have purchased something there under a valid user name.
